excellent for a late night snack after going out....
I've been a big fan of this German Pub and its lovely german beer & food over the past year or so. But lately I must say the standards have been below my expectations. They've introduced the lunch buffet which have been excellent value. However they have been reducing the selection recently and the increase in popularity means that there are long queues and long wait for the food to be topped up. Unfortunately I don't think I'll return until they have that sorted.
The bar itself is essentially a freezer and everything is made out of ice (maybe except for the bar staff and the cash till). You do have to buy an admission ticket for the ice bar but it includes a cape & mitts, your first cocktail and your very own ice cup (which you don't really get to keep). On Thurs-Sat 8pm they have premium sessions which are basically a 45min all you can drink cocktail session. Our group managed to go through over half of the cocktail menu. Good luck trying to beat that. The novelty of everything made out of ice did wear off after about 30 mins so a 45 min session is the perfect length. Highly recommended for special occasions or a 'warm up' to a bigger evening.
This place has now been renamed "meza". It has a nice bar area with comfy seats and happy hour cocktail specials. The restaurant section gave a slightly more casual vibe than the bar. The menu consists of various tapas dishes as well as sharing platters and normal a la carte items. Service was friendly and warm, food arrived quickly (although we were one if the first people there). Will definitely visit again.
It's a bit out of the way, but it's well worth the trip to this restaurant. They have a wide selection of fish as well as other seafood. While I'm sure they do a killer fish & chips I'd recommend you try their fish steamed or grilled to taste the true flavour & freshness of the fish. The service was warm, personal & friendly. Will definitely go back for more. Highly recommended.
HOT - The pub is nice and warm inside with multiple fireplaces running to keep the whole room cosy & toasty. Perfect for a cold winter day. Cold - The staff attitude can vary quite a bit, during my last visit I did not get a single smile from the staff. Which is enough to make me think twice before returning.
I always wondered how Haagen Dazs can have a 'Restaurant' and how come there's always seems to be a (short) queue outside every time I walked past. Finally I had the opportunity to experience it and I must say I was impressed. They have a whole range of dessert from ice cream (of course) to cocktails to chocolate fondue. I tried the chocolate fondue and besides the usual variety of fruit you also get a selection of ice cream. The staff were exceptionally cheerful and friendly. Highly recommended.
At first glance you might think that it's a pub but it's actually a Hungarian restaurant located just a stone throw away from Soho square. The staff were warm and friendly, the food was amazing. I recommend the sweet cheese pancake for dessert. Will definitely go back for more.
